if I go to WordCamps … it’s to share experiences …
Within the organising team, he’s responsible for contact with WordCamp Central and the coordination of the amazing team of organisers, who accepted to make WordCamp Lausanne 2018 successful.
Florian has been toying with computers since he was a mere youngster. He learns Basic on a Commodore 64 and writes his first ever useful application in primary school: A program that spells out the conjugation of French verbs. This allows him to expedite the punishments for his forgetfulness at school.
He creates his first website by hand writing html when CSS is not supported by all browsers, html tables are used for layouts when using the Internet means blocking the family land line.
During a sabbatical year, he works for a web agency and learns SQL, ColdFusion (a forgotten language) and finally PHP, then in version 3.0.
After this experience of the workplace, he studies Physics and co-founds TiZoo, a company helping it’s customers to use open source software. The company is then completed by AlpHosting, a web hosting service that also happens to sponsor WordCamp Lausanne 2018.
After this experience of the workplace, he studies Physics and co-founds TiZoo, AlpHosting, Florian’s first encounter with WordPress starts with version 2.7. He uses it for a few small projects starting from version 3.0, but prefers – by lack of wisdom – to reinvent the wheel and continues to code most of his projects from scratch.
With the expansion of AlpHosting, he rediscovers WordPress and starts to promote it to his customers. Florian loves WordPress’ ease of use and modularity. It is therefore an ideal system for people who want to create a website without having to learn 3 programming languages.
He joined the WordPress community in 2016, during a meetup where hosting companies were invited. He took part in WordCamps in Geneva (2016) and Bern (2017) before offering his help to organise WordCamp Lausanne 2018.
