Hi, my name is Nico.
I’m a frontend-developer focused on new web technologies. Besides working on custom WP themes and plugins for clients I spend a lot of time on open source projects. Lately I became a big fan of progressive web apps and I also created the first fully featured PWA WordPress Plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/progressive-wp/

How did you start with WordPress ?

When I started deing self-employed I was looking for a flexible and well supported CMS so my Clients were able to maintain their site. WordPress covered all my needs back then and still does.

For me it was always important to deliver custom Websites. So I started creating custom Themes, tried some plugins and when I couldn’t find a plugin that covered my Needs, I wrote it myself an published it in the WordPress repository.

Why did you choose this workshop topic ?

I’m a huge fan of what the web has to offer. But unfortunately it’s not always easy to Keep up with all changes and upcoming possibilities. WordPress makes it easy to deliver new web capabilities to a huge number of site owners.

«Progressive Web Apps» is now one of those new concepts that have the potential to Change the way we use the web. I was fascinated when I first heard about it, I tried it out and I found an easy way to make it available for everyone. And now I want to share what I found out along the way.

What will learn with your workshop ?

You will learn what a PWA is, what Problems they solve, how you can use those Features for your own Project and last but not least what is Happening right now at the WordPress Core.
