We will follow my personal production path from planning an interview to finally publishing it though a WordPress powered podcast website.
I’m Simon. When asked about my job, I often struggle to find a sufficient answer. Following a more conventional career path, I might be a pilot, chef or teacher today. But well, I did not follow that path and instead became a web developer. Crazy, right?I make a living from writing code. Code that somehow helps running websites, that’s why there is a web in “web developer”. When working on web projects, I almost exclusively use the content management system WordPress. The beautiful German town Frankfurt is the place I call home at the moment, even though I travel all across Germany every week.
How did you start with WordPress ?
I started with WordPress back in 2008, when I needed a website for a project. By tweaking this first website (and some other sites over the years) I learned everything I know today from theme development to multisite network.
Why did you choose this workshop topic ?
In 2015 I started the German WordPress podcast „PressWerk“ (https://presswerk.net) followed by an English Podcast called „Press This“ (https://pressthis.net) earlier this year. In order to get my first episode out there I learned lots and lots about audio recording, post-production and interview techniques. Sharing this knowledge alongside some WordPress specific tipps for podcasters seems like the right thing to do at a WordCamp.
What will learn with your workshop ?
I’ll show (and bring) my whole setup to Lausanne. So during my Workshop we will follow my personal production path from planning an interview to finally publishing it though a WordPress powered podcast website.
